Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Reduce Greenhouse Gas at COP26

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has again reaffirmed its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas. At this time, it was discussed during the Convention on Climate Change held in United Kingdom. It was attended by deputy secretary-general of the ministry’s General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development, Sum Thy. He says that Cambodia is also preparing long-term development strategies for carbon neutrals that will need significant support from all partners including technology and financial transfers.

He made the statement during the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. It is a two-week conference that has taken place annually since 1995.

Sum Thy has attended the High-Level Roundtable of the Asia Water Council, a special session of the COP26. He has briefed participants from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, South Korea, the K-Water organization, and the Asia Development Bank, about Cambodia’s 10-year National Strategic Plan for Climate Change. He has added that the Kingdom’s agriculture, health, infrastructure, water resources, education and industrial production are highly vulnerable to climate change, which needs to be addressed.
